Wed, April 4 2018

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global technology and specialty materials company, today announced it has received the 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR. Celanese’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., on April 20.

Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Awards are bestowed upon companies and other organizations demonstrating continued leadership in energy efficiency and commitment to the ENERGY STAR program. Winners come from small, family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 organizations – representing energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors.

“Receiving this award demonstrates Celanese’s ongoing commitment to strong energy management practices that produce positive results for the environment, our customers and the many communities where we operate,” said Jon Mortimer, Vice President of Global Manufacturing. “Since 2015, Celanese has executed more than 140 energy reduction and productivity projects saving more than $10 million and delivering more than $40 million in energy cost-reduction projects. As part of our sustainable energy program, Celanese has also developed a 2018-2019 pipeline of energy projects with a forecast savings of $12 million.”

“The 2018 ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year have demonstrated real leadership, showing how American families and businesses can save energy, save money and reduce air emissions,” said Bill Wehrum, EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation.

In 2016 alone, certified ENERGY STAR products, homes, buildings and manufacturing plants helped Americans save more than $30 billion in energy costs and approximately 400 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity while achieving broad emissions reductions.
